Ethics & Sustainability
I believe that beautiful, well-made pieces shouldn’t come at the expense of the planet or the people who make them. My commitment to ethical and sustainable practices runs through every aspect of my business, from the materials I use to the way I package and post your jewellery.
Recycled Sterling Silver
Every piece I make is crafted from recycled sterling silver. By using recycled metal, I help reduce the demand for newly mined silver, which is often associated with environmental destruction, unfair labour practices, and excessive energy consumption. Recycled silver has the same quality and durability as newly mined silver - just without the ethical concerns.
Plastic-Free & Recyclable Packaging
I’ve designed my packaging to be as eco-friendly as possible. Orders are packed in plastic-free, recyclable materials, and where possible, I use recycled packaging to keep waste to a minimum. I also avoid unnecessary extras - every piece of jewellery is carefully wrapped for protection, but without excessive branding and minimal non-recyclable elements.
Minimal Waste Approach
Jewellery making can produce waste, but I do everything I can to minimise it. Every scrap of silver is collected and reused, ensuring that nothing goes to waste. Offcuts and filings are melted down and transformed into new pieces, reducing the need for additional material. Additionally, any silver scraps that cannot be reused in my studio are saved and returned to my suppliers, where they are melted down and turned back into new silver.
Conscious Business Practices
Sustainability isn’t just about materials - it’s also about how a business operates. I aim to work with ethical suppliers, support independent businesses wherever possible, and choose energy-efficient processes in my studio. I continually look for ways to improve and make my business even more sustainable.
A Work in Progress
I know that sustainability is an ongoing journey, not a destination. I’m always looking for better ways to make my jewellery with as little impact as possible, and I welcome any ideas or discussions on how to do better.
If you have any questions about my materials or processes, feel free to get in touch - I’m always happy to chat about what goes into making ethical jewellery!
